Fisher Barton offers extensive coating and welding services that are used to enhance the surface properties of many different components. Our coatings, claddings, and welds provide a diverse range of surface properties to greatly improve a component’s performance. Surface properties such as wear resistance, electrical insolation, electrical conductivity, thermal barriers, corrosion protection, and many others can be engineered specifically to substantially improve a parts performance. Fisher Barton’s materials engineering expertise is used to develop application specific coatings and welds for a wide variety of industries and applications.

The surface engineering processes that Fisher Barton has extensive expertise include many thermal spray processes such as conventional flame spray, high velocity oxy-fuel, (HVOF), plasma spray, and electric arc. Other processes that produce welds and claddings include, plasma transferred arc, (PTA), laser cladding, and other weld overlay techniques. Our materials engineers use these processes with almost an unlimited number of materials including many ceramics, metals, carbides and cermets, (ceramic and metals composites) to produce component and environmental specific surfaces.

Just like the diverse number of surfaces Fisher Barton engineers create, the industries the surfaces are used in are also highly diverse. These industries include, medical devices, food processing, agriculture equipment, lawn and garden, automotive, energy, defense, marine, and many others.

Coatings can also be applied to a wide variety of materials. Coatings can be deposited on almost all metals including, steel, stainless steel, brasses, bronzes, titanium, aluminum, magnesium, tungsten, and many others. Coatings can also be applied to many polymers, carbon fiber composites, graphite, and other specialized materials.
